Lego Board Games

AlaskaspielImage via Wikipedia
Lego has been in the building-toy line for quite a while and as section of that success, they have got occasionally branched into the areas as well. One of the areas they have been successful in is games. The Lego computer games for Gi joe, Batman, Indiana Jones now Harry Potter are already highly successful and fun also.

But Lego have another type of game on the market, one that gets to be a lot less publicity these days- games. For the last year hints are already appearing that Lego will bring out a range of board-games based around their various themes including Castles, Space, Atlantis and in many cases licensed themes like Harry Potter. But who plays these anymore and would they be anything good?

Well as it happens many people still enjoy board games, especially families. And therefore are they a bit of good? Lego seems to think so since they didn't just release one, they've designed and produced an overall total of 18 titles to date. They are all driven by rolling dice in lieu of switching on computers and involve many different skill sets that may challenge and entertain loved one of all ages.

Being Lego there is certainly of course a construction element to any or all the games which is a great method of getting younger fans into hands per hour beyond computers. Each of them require several player so may be a perfect fit for families who want to connect after work and school. Thus far all the titles have been very well received with popular titles including Minotaurus, Monster 4 and Lava Dragon.

Each title is different in its layout and objective in fact it is a credit to the designers they developed numerous games with your differing themes. Most games have playing times, of approximately 15 minutes so can be fast paced and do not require many time commitment from players, unless of course you get addicted and the winner is the first to succeed in four games!

Lego Batman Figures

LEGO MinifiguresImage by virar- via FlickrThe Batman theme of LEGO sets first saw store shelves in 2006. To date there have not been very many Batman LEGO Sets released in comparison to other LEGO themes. This makes collecting Batman LEGO Mini figures easier than other LEGO themes, including the Star Wars LEGO Theme which could literally have 100 or higher LEGO mini figures. Below is really a comprehensive list of every Batman LEGO mini-figure:

 Batman
 Catwoman
 Two-Face
 Two- Face Henchman
 Bruce Wayne
 Robin
 Alfred
 The Penguin
 Penguin Henchman
 Nightwing
 Scarecrow
 The Riddler
 Poison Ivy
 Arkham Guards
 The Riddler
 Bane
 Mr. Freeze
 Harley Quinn
 The Joker
 Joker Henchman
 Killer Croc

The main problem a collector could have would be the tariff of these Batman mini-figs. Because of how rare a few of these Batman LEGO Sets could be (namely the Arkham Asylum LEGO Set) it can be difficult to acquire most of these LEGO mini-figures. I would suggest looking into eBay for bulk LEGO auctions to find out if you can come across an inexperienced seller that could not specifically what he/she has. Sometimes these bulk auctions slip over the cracks and may be sold affordable when compared to what you should pay for somebody Batman mini figure.

As stated previously, essentially the most difficult to acquire are the mini-figures from the Arkham Asylum LEGO Set. This is really because that set is extremely hard to come by plus some of the Batman LEGO mini figures which are included are exclusive to this set. The Asylum set sell for as much as $300 USD! This is quite a bit more than your average collector would prefer to pay.

Lego Starwars Games

Lego Star Wars: The Complete SagaImage via Wikipedia
Lego Star Wars has quite the interesting history when it comes to the fact that the overall game entertains children everywhere. It all stems from the most popular plastic blocks that can be used to develop cars, space ships, buildings, and whatever a child's imagination can think up. Anyone under the age of 60 has more than likely played with Legos, to ensure means that a lot of the children messing around with them today have grandparents who once used their imaginations to complete the same exact thing.

The Lego saga began in 1932 in Billund, Denmark, where a carpenter known as Ole Kirk Kristiansen began a brand new business that made wooden toys, stepladders, and ironing boards. What nobody realized in those days was that Legos have been born.

It absolutely was in 1934 that Kristiansen created the name Lego, that is derived from "leg godt," what are Danish words for "play well." However, in Latin, the term Lego means "I come up with." Unfortunately in 1942, the plant burned down and Kristiansen needed to rebuild, but merely two years later, Kristiansen's plant purchased a shot molding machine that created plastic toys, but he was yet to invent the muse.

It was in 1949 how the Automatic Binding Brick was introduced for sale only in Denmark and appeared to be a tiny plastic brick with eight or four studs. However, by 1950 the Lego accounted for half of send out business. After that, the Lego began spreading around the globe and through the years had developed various themes such as sets that focused just on building cars or on just building buildings. The number of choices were endless.

However, the Legos nowadays are much different than the Legos both we and our parents played with. Our children are using Lego theme parks, there are Lego themed movies, high are even Lego themed video games that are based away from particular toy lines manufactured by Lego. One of those toy lines is Lego Alien, which later resulted in the Lego Star Wars video game.

The video game was released in 2005 and it is based through the prequel trilogy to the actual The exorcist Trilogy that began inside late 1970's and early 1980's. However, the action was actually released per month before the last from the Star Wars films premiered.

It was developed by LucasArts and Eidos Interactive for the Sony PlayStation2, the Microsoft Xbox, as well as for personal computers running the Windows Operating System. It turned out also developed for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance. In August 2005, A Mac port was developed for the game to get played on Mac computers as well as in October 2005, a version was released for the Nintendo GameCube.

Lego Alien received the Kidsworld.com award of Game of the Year and received very good reviews. In May 2005, it even peaked at the top of the charts in britain to eventually lose its prominent spot to the Episode III game that has been later released. However, its position as a top game for the kids remained high for a long time.

In September 2006, Lego Star Wars II: The initial Trilogy was released plus a year later was followed by a prequel game released in November 2007 called, Lego Gi joe: The Complete Saga. Some deem the Lego Gi joe video games as the coolest games ever and they consistently receive ratings between 4 and 5 stars beyond a possible 5 stars on many gaming websites. The games are great for children and so are a great way for that Lego legacy to call home on over the electronic world.

The purpose and vision from the Lego Star Wars would be to inspire children to educate yourself regarding and challenge their unique creative potential. Mastermind Toys offers educational toys for very young children.

Lego Train Sets

One section of a massive Lego train layout at ...Image via Wikipedia
Lego have been releasing train sets for decades and it is one of their most widely used non-franchise based lines. The initial train Lego released had ordinary wheels with no track. Which was way back in 1965 plus a year later they realised the buzz of toys trains in Lego format and released another train set, now with track along with a battery powered motor.

Subsequently Trains have been a standby for Lego plus a significant section of any Lego city. From 4.5V battery motors came the 12 volt powered electric trains in 1969, the season of the moon landing, and Lego haven't looked back since. In 1991 the introduced a 9 volt system which lasted until 2006 if the current remote device era arrived to effect.

From 2006 to 2009 Lego train releases were controlled using a wireless handheld controller which controls an auto in the engine. Using infrared communication and batteries in the engine the train was controlled around the track but the system lacked functions and power and proved unpopular with a lot of fans.

This season Lego are releasing their latest array of remote controlled trains, but this time around the handy remote control makes use of the successful Lego Power Functions (PF) way of automation. The first two trains to use this method are positioned 7938 Passenger Train and 7939 Cargo Train, furthering Lego's tradition of offering both cargo and express trains together.

Lego is also introducing flexible track, items of track that can be bent indifferent arcs with regards to the track layout requirements. A Place 7937 is also looking for release this coming year which will please many train fans in addition to a level crossing, sadly missing the past few years.

Lego Storage Containers

A pile of Lego blocks, of assorted colours and...Image via WikipediaThe great thing about LEGOs is the little pieces. They've created it more enjoyable and challenging to put together. The side effects of LEGOs can be the little pieces and ensuring that they stick to the set they belong with and never lost somewhere in your own home. Storage containers can restore your LEGO sanity.

My son is merely five years old anf the husband already has lots of LEGO sets without end in sight. For Christmas he got one of the LEGO Atlantis kits. He also received two gift cards that they used to buy three groups of a new line called Pharoah's Quest. Being a parent, we've found out that each cool product requires its storage container if you find any hope of keeping the correct pieces together.

Don't get me wrong; we love LEGOs! They keep my son occupied in a manner that makes me happy (much better than video games or viewing tv). He spends hours putting the blocks together, taking them apart and putting rid of it together again. However, when he attempts to play with them, pieces get dropped every now and then all around the house. It's true of life that the LEGO creations will fall apart when you try to use them and we all encourage him to get pieces while he goes along. Then my hubby will inventory the blocks of each kit based on the instruction guide. We put them away in individual pots.

My son has a number of of the LEGO Star Wars series and hopes, of course, to get all of them. He has five with the LEGO Indiana Jones series. And three with the LEGO Pirate series. And more Creator and miscellaneous kits. We use clear plastic bins with lids to keep the bits of each set and its instruction guide. We don't save the main boxes but we all do cut out the item name and tape it on the storage containers and we all know what it has. We try to keep them organized by series that may become easier as my son gets older and learns how to sort like this too. The biggest thing is that with this particular storage system, they can find what he needs when he is ready to put a group together and are aware that all the blocks is there.

Lego Build Together

A pile of Lego blocks, of assorted colours and...Image via Wikipedia
I first got considering Lego when my son one day put aside his playstation to construct a Lego Starwars ship. When he was younger I did before help him build them however we build them together. It really is something that unites us both.

We are not the only ones. Over 200 million sets are sold each year in over 100 countries. But where achieved it all start?

In 1932 Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter and joiner, started an enterprise Stepladder, ironing board and wooden toy business in the Denmark village called Billund. But it was the wooden toys that interested him most.

2 yrs later he changed the name to LEGO, produced by two danish words "Leg Godt" this means "play well". At this stage there was clearly only a dozen employees. In 1947 the LEGO company was the 1st in Denmark to buy a plastic injection-moulding machine to generate plastic toys.

In 1950 Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, the son of OLE, is appointed vice president and it in a short time the bricks we know today are saved to the production line. A few year later the LEGO company patents the familiar stud and tube coupling and greater variety of bricks are designed.

In 1958 Ole Kirk Christiansen dies and the son becomes head of the company and Godtfred focuses entirely on the plastic bricks. Recent years roll on and more developments are combined with the bricks. Cellulose acetate is replaced by acrylonitrile butadiene styrene in 1963. As a result the bricks more colorful and better quality. By now millions of lego pieces are produced.
