Lego Storage Containers

A pile of Lego blocks, of assorted colours and...Image via WikipediaThe great thing about LEGOs is the little pieces. They've created it more enjoyable and challenging to put together. The side effects of LEGOs can be the little pieces and ensuring that they stick to the set they belong with and never lost somewhere in your own home. Storage containers can restore your LEGO sanity.

My son is merely five years old anf the husband already has lots of LEGO sets without end in sight. For Christmas he got one of the LEGO Atlantis kits. He also received two gift cards that they used to buy three groups of a new line called Pharoah's Quest. Being a parent, we've found out that each cool product requires its storage container if you find any hope of keeping the correct pieces together.

Don't get me wrong; we love LEGOs! They keep my son occupied in a manner that makes me happy (much better than video games or viewing tv). He spends hours putting the blocks together, taking them apart and putting rid of it together again. However, when he attempts to play with them, pieces get dropped every now and then all around the house. It's true of life that the LEGO creations will fall apart when you try to use them and we all encourage him to get pieces while he goes along. Then my hubby will inventory the blocks of each kit based on the instruction guide. We put them away in individual pots.

My son has a number of of the LEGO Star Wars series and hopes, of course, to get all of them. He has five with the LEGO Indiana Jones series. And three with the LEGO Pirate series. And more Creator and miscellaneous kits. We use clear plastic bins with lids to keep the bits of each set and its instruction guide. We don't save the main boxes but we all do cut out the item name and tape it on the storage containers and we all know what it has. We try to keep them organized by series that may become easier as my son gets older and learns how to sort like this too. The biggest thing is that with this particular storage system, they can find what he needs when he is ready to put a group together and are aware that all the blocks is there.
