Lego Build Together

I first got considering Lego when my son one day put aside his playstation to construct a Lego Starwars ship. When he was younger I did before help him build them however we build them together. It really is something that unites us both.

We are not the only ones. Over 200 million sets are sold each year in over 100 countries. But where achieved it all start?

In 1932 Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter and joiner, started an enterprise Stepladder, ironing board and wooden toy business in the Denmark village called Billund. But it was the wooden toys that interested him most.

2 yrs later he changed the name to LEGO, produced by two danish words "Leg Godt" this means "play well". At this stage there was clearly only a dozen employees. In 1947 the LEGO company was the 1st in Denmark to buy a plastic injection-moulding machine to generate plastic toys.

In 1950 Godtfred Kirk Christiansen, the son of OLE, is appointed vice president and it in a short time the bricks we know today are saved to the production line. A few year later the LEGO company patents the familiar stud and tube coupling and greater variety of bricks are designed.

In 1958 Ole Kirk Christiansen dies and the son becomes head of the company and Godtfred focuses entirely on the plastic bricks. Recent years roll on and more developments are combined with the bricks. Cellulose acetate is replaced by acrylonitrile butadiene styrene in 1963. As a result the bricks more colorful and better quality. By now millions of lego pieces are produced.
